There is currently an Ebola outbreak putting all of us at risk. Please help educate all around u by sending this message to all your contacts..
What is EBOLA?
It's a virus that attacks a person blood system:
Ebola is what scientists call a haemorraghic fever - it operates by making its victims bleed from almost
anywhere on their body.
Usually victims bleed to
death.
Ebola is highly contagious;
Being transmitted via
contact with body fluids
such as blood, sweat, saliva,
semen or other body discharges.
Ebola is however NOT AN AIRBORNE VIRUS!
EXTREMELY deadly:
About 90% of people that
catch Ebola will die from it.
It's one of the deadliest
diseases in the world,
killing in just a few weeks.
Untreatable(no cure):
Ebola has no known treatment or cure.
Victims are usually treated for symptoms with the faint hope that they
recover.
How Do I Know Someone has Ebola?
•Fever
•Headache
•Diarrhoea
•Vomiting
•Weakness
•Joint & Muscle pains
•Stomach Pain
•Lack of Appetite
Protect Yourself:
•Wash Your Hands
with Soap
Do this a lot. You can
also use a good hand
sanitizer. Avoid
unnecessary physical contact with people.
■Restrict yourself to food you prepared yourself.
■Disinfect Your Surroundings
The virus cannot
survive disinfectants, heat, direct sunlight, detergents and soaps.
Clean up!:
•Fumigate If you have Pests.
•Rodents can be carriers of Ebola.
•Fumigate your environment & dispose off the carcasses properly!
•Dead bodies CAN still
transmit Ebola.
•Don't touch them without
protective gear or better yet avoid them altogether.
Protect Yourself:
•Use protective gear if you
must care or go near
someone you suspect has
Ebola.
Report:
•Report any suspicious
symptoms in yourself or
anyone else IMMEDIATELY.
Do not delay!
Educate Everyone:
•Tell your neighbours,
colleagues and domestic
staff (anyone really). Basically you're safer when
everyone is educated.

If not then read it and make ur life like super hero.

1. Don’t smoke ==>> Experiments from experts proves that smoking a cigarette after meal is comparable to smoking 10 cigarettes (chances of cancer is higher)

2. Don’t eat fruits immediately --- Immediately eating fruits after meals will cause stomach to be bloated with air. Thre fore take fruits 1 -2 hours after meal or 1 hour before meal.

3. Don’t drink tea ==>> Because tea leaves contain a high content of acid. This substance will cause the protein content in the food we consume to be hundred thus difficult to digest.

4. Don’t loosen your belt ==>> Loosening the belt after meal will easily cause the intestine to be twisted and blocked.

5. Don’t bathe ==>> Bathing after meal will cause the increase of blood flow to the hands, legs and body thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore decrease, this will weaken the digestive system in our stomach.

6. Don’t walk about- ==>>People always say that after a meal walk a hundred steps and you will live till 99. In actual fact this is not true. Walking will cause the digestive system to be unable to absorb the nutrition from the food we intake.

7. Don’t sleep immediately ==>>The food we intake will not be to digest properly. Thus will lead to gastric and infection in our intestine.

Please forward it to your friends let them be aware….

Be Healthy....

brain,brain defects,brain disease

1 .Morning without having eaten the food being !
People who do not take breakfast in the morning there will be a lower blood sugar level . Without the necessary nutrients and energy needed to make it to the brain , the brain is responsible for the destruction

2 .Too much to eat !
It tightens the blood vessels in the brain cause the brain to reduce the power factor.

3 .Smoking !
It will shrink the brain size and ,Alzheimer lead to illness .

4 .Eating a lot of sugar !
Eating a lot of sugar , protein and prevents buildup in our body . it will affect the brain development.

5 .Air pollution !
If we Breath polluted air it leads to lack of oxygen in brain and less oxygen leads to affect the brain.

6 .Insomnia !
Good Sleep allows our brain to rest.Less sleep will causes long defects on the brain.

7 .Covered head to sleep !
If we Covered head to sleep ,the carbon dioxide level will increase . This reduces the oxygen you breathe . Low oxygen affects the brain .

8 .Diseased brains in time to give !
In diseased Times if we give more work and study will affecting the brain . after the body get well it will give the best brains .

9 .Brain will work the lack of ideas !
Over thinking leads the brain to get new connections in the nervous system that will make the brain hard.

10 .Being silent !
The brain increases the strength of intellectual conversations .

Years pass by and our kidneys are filtering the blood by removing salt, poison and any unwanted entering our body. With time, the salt accumulates and this needs to undergo cleaning treatments and how are we going to overcome this?

It is very easy, first take a bunch of parsley or Cilantro ( Coriander Leaves ) and wash it clean
Drink one glass daily and you will notice all salt and other accumulated poison coming out of your kidney by urination also you will be able to notice the difference which you never felt before.
Parsley (Cilantro) is known as best cleaning treatment for kidneys and it is natural!

Then cut it in small pieces and put it in a pot and pour clean water and boil it for ten minutes and let it cool down and then filter it and pour in a clean bottle and keep it inside refrigerator to cool.

Herbal drinks were given to fever patients in Srirangam Government Hospital on Wednesday, following the State government’s latest efforts to combat dengue by distributing Siddha preparations at all government hospitals in the State. Three herbal drinks, nila vembu kudineer, papaya leaf juice, and malai vembu juice, will be given to patients with fever and symptoms of dengue at all government hospitals and primary health care centres.

The health department has recommended a daily intake of 10 millimetre thrice a day. The herbal drinks not only help to keep fever under control but act as an immunity booster. While papaya leaf juice is said to increase platelet count, malai vembu boosts immunity.

According the T.Selvaraj, Joint Director, Department of Health Services, the treatment will only supplement and not replace allopathic treatment. As all medicines are derived from plants and herbs, the herbal drinks will not interfere with conventional treatment or produce any side effects, he added. Depending on availability, any of the three suggested herbal drinks will be given to patients.

Around 250 kilograms of nilavembu preparation have been sent out to hospitals in Ariyalur, Perambalur, Karur and Tiruchi, according to T.Srinivasan, district Siddha medical officer. The powder can be mixed with drinking water. Welcoming the move, Dr. Kamaraj of the Siddha division at ESI Hospital said the hospital had been distributing the juice to all inpatients and outpatients since the onset of dengue and had reported less than five dengue positive cases. Collector Jayashree Muralidharan kicked off the initiative by handing out herbal drinks at Srirangam GH.

Diabetes mellitus, or simply diabetes, is a group of metabolic diseases in which a person has high blood sugar, either because the body does not produce enough insulin, or because cells do not respond to the insulin that is produced. This high blood sugar produces the classical symptoms of polyuria (frequent urination), polydipsia (increased thirst) and polyphagia (increased hunger). There are three main types of diabetes mellitus (DM). Type 1 DM results from the body's failure to produce insulin, and presently requires the person to inject insulin or wear an insulin pump. This form was previously referred to as "insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus" (IDDM) or "juvenile diabetes". Type 2 DM results from insulin resistance, a condition in which cells fail to use insulin properly, sometimes combined with an absolute insulin deficiency. This form was previously referred to as non insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) or "adult-onset diabetes". The third main form, gestational diabetes occurs when pregnant women without a previous diagnosis of diabetes develop a high blood glucose level. It may precede development of type 2 DM./Diabetes affects people in the prime of their productive life. Unfortunately all the “good” things associated with modern life are risk factors for diabetes. In other words, diabetes affects healthy people and the conventional risk factors include age, high intake of foods with sugar and fat, obesity, sedentary lifestyle, stress — all of which are characteristics of today’s lifestyle.

Among the obvious risk factors, importance of physical activity is often not recognized  One major reason has been the lack of sensitive tools to assess physical activity. Moreover, the optimal level of physical activity needed for human beings to maintain good metabolic and cardiovascular health is not clearly known.

There is no doubt that physical inactivity is a major cause of obesity. Many scientific studies have proved that physical inactivity is detrimental, even in the absence of obesity. In fact a large proportion of people who develop diabetes in India have a Body Mass Index that would be considered non-obese by western standards. The scientific explanation is that Indians have comparatively more fat mass than muscle mass. Recent studies have shown that physical inactivity may be a more important risk factor than bad/high fat diet for diabetes and obesity in developed countries. Increasing physical activity helps weight reduction in obese persons, which is beneficial in improving metabolism.

Studies have shown increasing obesity rates in Australia, the U.K., and the U.S., although sugar intake in Australia and the U.K. showed a slight decline. In the U.S., a small increase in sugar intake occurred but this was much smaller than the increase in obesity rates. Furthermore, the U.S. had massive increases in sugar intake early in the 20th century, but no increase in obesity rates was seen. Therefore, declining total daily energy expenditure is a more likely cause of the obesity epidemic, causing metabolic disorders such as diabetes.

In a recent paper, published in Lancet 2012, I-Min Lee and colleagues analysed the effect of physical inactivity on non-communicable diseases and concluded that physical inactivity is a major risk factor for NCD along with obesity and smoking.

It has also been noted that in India the average physical activity among the urban population is much lower compared to western countries. This is true not only for adults but also for children. This situation needs to change and the proof is reflected in the number of Olympic medals we win compared to China.

One of the major reasons is the increased amount of time adults and children spent in front of televisions and computers. One study in Chennai showed that the number of hours of watching television per week was directly proportional to the prevalence of diabetes. This study was conducted when there were only 25 TV channels. Other studies have shown that physical activity improves glucose and fat metabolism even in non-obese persons and can even prevent the onset of diabetes in those at risk (Indian Diabetes Prevention Programme, Diabetologia, 2006).

There are many misconceptions regarding healthy exercise programmes. We need to realise that increasing the number of steps taken during working hours in an office or at home adds to physical activity. For example, take the staircase instead of the elevator, walk to the market instead of driving, walk in the railway station or airport especially if the train/flight is delayed. These small steps will substantially improve physical activity in the Indian scenario.

Walking is one of the best physical activities. To those who complain that they do not have time to walk, the answer is: make time —half an hour daily — for walking, it will add 10 more years to your lifetime.

1) Don't believe the hype when it comes to fancy toothpastes. Pastes that claim to whiten teeth may be too abrasive for everyday use and those that claim to build enamel probably aren't powerful enough to really make a difference. Stick to the simpler versions.

2) Clean your tongue. Yes, the tongue self-cleans to an extent, but using a tongue-scraper will ensure better removal of bacteria that could otherwise store in the mouth and between teeth.

3) Rinse with fluoride, not alcohol. Mouthwashes that contain alcohol have been linked to cancer. Instead, look for an alcohol-free brand that contains fluoride, the critical ingredient in maintaining a clean mouth.

4) Brush enough. Brushing a full two minutes removes 25 percent more plaque than brushing for under a minute, which is, unfortunately, the norm.

5) Brush the right way. Start at the back of the upper teeth, moving forward in a rotating motion, making sure to also brush along the gum line. Repeat on the bottom. Don't rinse. Teeth with toothpaste still on them are more resistant to decay.

6) Invest in electric. Buying an electric toothbrush is worth it. "Its much more effective than manual brushing," says one top dentist.

7) Floss. If you don't floss, you are leaving 40 per cent of the tooth surface untouched. "I recommend a waxed tape rather than floss as it has a wider surface area," says another expert.

8) Chill, relax. Stress often leads us to grind our teeth at night, resulting in chipped teeth, receding gums and nasty headaches.

9) Go easy on the red wine, coffee and cigarettes. All three can lead to staining over time.

10) If you need braces, get them! It's not just about a pretty smile, it's about a healthy mouth. When you have straight teeth, they're easier to care for. With crooked teeth, it's harder to get into the crevices and get each tooth truly clean.

1. Find out how many calories you need

It is not as easy as it sounds, but it is very important for an individual to know his/her caloric requirement [approx 1,800 calories/day] – on the basis of which reduction in calories for weight loss, weight management, or weight gain, can be pursued. Speak to a dietician or nutritionist who can help you decide on what suits your needs best.

2. Be a fan of fruits and vegetables

Fruits and vegetables are packed with beneficial fibre, vitamins, and anti-oxidants. They fill up your stomach quickly, so you feel full just as quickly. They are also low in calories and help to keep your calorie count low. Take at least 3-4 servings of fruit and 4-5 servings of vegetables each day. Snack on apples, melons, peaches, carrots, or green and red pepper strips. Don’t forget juices – or, a glass of fruit or vegetable juice.

3. Watch for portion-size

Eat moderate portions. If you keep portion sizes reasonable, it’s easier to eat the foods you want and stay healthy. One serving of pasta means 1/2 cup of cooked pasta. However, most restaurants serve a pasta dish with 4 servings of pasta! You do not need to finish and clean off the plate every time. You can simply ask to take home the leftover.

4. Do not skip meals

Eating small frequent meals helps to balance your calorie intake throughout the day and also keeps your blood sugar level balanced. Instead of eating three big meals, try to eat 5-6 small meals throughout the day.

5. Eat your breakfast

“Breaking the fast” from the prior evening is crucial for sustained mental work. The brain’s sole source of energy is glucose, and it has no storage reserves. Eating breakfast has been shown to improve overall attitude, increase concentration and problem-solving ability. In addition, studies show those who eat breakfast typically consume fewer calories and fat compared to those who do not start their day off with a healthy meal. If you aren’t used to eating something in the morning, grab something light like a yogurt and a piece of fruit, or a bowl of oatmeal. Avoid heavy breakfasts – skip high fat meat, deep fried snacks like samosa, batata wada. Choose oatmeal, 100 per cent fruit juice, milk, yogurt, fresh fruit, or high fibre cereal for a great breakfast.

6. Take time for balanced lunch

Yes, for the busy executive many of your lunches are often something you grabbed out of the pantry and snacked on while working at the computer. Not only is it important to take a break during the day, it is crucial to take time to eat. When you eat at the computer, it becomes unconscious eating. You aren’t paying attention to how much of that food item you are eating and this, in turn, is a quick way to gain weight. It becomes impossible to be conscious of feeling “full” when your mind if focused on work, and not your body. Take some time for yourself to eat a balanced meal during the day. Include some protein, whole grains, and plenty of fruits and vegetables. This will help you to improve your energy and focus during the day as well as keep your weight where you want it.

7. Go for wholesome fresh foods

If possible, purchase fresh foods and avoid package [processed] and convenient foods such as fast-food. Packaged and convenient foods are often high in sodium and fat content. Many people are amazed that they can easily lose weight by packing a home-cooked lunch to work instead of eating out.

8. Reduce, don’t eliminate certain foods

Most people eat for pleasure as well as nutrition. Everyone has his or her favourite treats. Simply allow yourself a little indulgence, but watch out for the frequency and the quantity. Having a small treat once in a while can be rewarding to your weight loss experience. Cutting too much of your favourite treats usually leads to an early relapse.

Choose skim or low-fat dairy products and lean cuts of meat such as flank steak. This can reduce your fat intake significantly. If you love fried chicken, you don’t have to give it up. Just eat it less often. When dining out, share it with a friend; ask for a take-home bag, or a smaller portion.

9. Understand food claims and labels

A product labelled with a fat-free claim does not mean that it is low in calories. Similarly, a product labelled as low-sugar or low-carb does not mean it is low in fat or calories. Always read the nutrition label on the packaging, or ask an expert.

10. Watch for sugary drinks and relinquish caffeine

Juices, pop, cream and sugar in your coffee or tea all add up. Opt for drinking at least 8-10 glasses of water a day. In addition to providing hydration to your body, it will also help you feel full.

Starting your day off with a pot of coffee is not exactly a balanced breakfast, but it is likely the most common. People are more dependent than ever on caffeine to provide them a “perk” of energy. The downside is that’s all it is providing – a quick perk. The reality is caffeine gives you small bursts of energy and then you crash to an energy low which leaves you to need even more. Caffeine also pulls fluid from your cells, which can cause mild dehydration and contributes to the three o’clock slump. Symptoms of mild dehydration are: fatigue, lack of concentration, irritability, anxiety, and mild headache. hmm, sounds familiar? Stick to one caffeinated beverage a day and work on drinking more water

11. Keep a food journal

Writing a daily food journal helps you pin-point your eating pattern and enable you to easily modify it.

12. Exercise

Most authorities recommend 30-40 minutes of physical activity a day to stay healthy. Also, try adding weight-bearing exercises at least two times a week. This will help burn some of the unwanted calories.

13. Eat a variety of nutrient-rich foods

You need more than 40 different nutrients for good health, and no single food supplies them all. Your daily food selection should include bread and other whole-grain products, fruits, vegetables, dairy products, meat, poultry, fish, and other protein foods. How much you should eat depends on your calorie needs. Speak to a dietitian or nutritionist for individualised needs.

14. Go for the grain

Nutrition experts recommend 6-11 daily servings of grains, including bread, rice, cereal and pasta. To reach this goal, you can include plenty of grain-based snacks that are low in fat and calories, like crackers, pretzels, and fat-free flavoured rice cakes.

15. Balance your food choices over time

Not every food has to be “perfect.” When eating a food high in fat, salt or sugar, select other foods that are low in these ingredients. If you miss out on any food group one day, make up for it the next. Your food choices over several days should fit together into a healthy pattern.

16. Know your diet pitfalls

To improve your eating habits, you first have to know what’s wrong with them. Write down everything you eat for three days. Check your list with the rest of these 20 tips. Do you add a lot of butter, creamy sauces or salad dressings? Rather than eliminating these foods, just cut back your portions. Are you getting enough fruits and vegetables? If not, you may be missing out on vital nutrients.

17. Make changes gradually

Just as there are no “miracle foods,” or easy answers to a healthy diet, don’t expect to totally revamp your eating habits overnight. Changing too much, too soon, can get in the way of success. Begin to remedy excesses or deficiencies with modest changes that can add up to positive, life-long eating habits. For instance, if you don’t like the taste of skim milk, try low-fat. Eventually, you may find you like skim, too.

18. Remember, foods are not good or bad

Select foods based on your total eating patterns, not whether any individual food is “good” or “bad.” Don’t feel guilty if you love foods such as apple pie, potato chips, candy bars, or ice-cream. Eat them in moderation, and choose other foods to provide the balance and variety that are vital to good health.

19. Don’t forget dairy

Include snacks from milk, yogurt and cheese group. To help meet your daily calcium requirements, choose two to three servings of dairy products each day. Snack on low-fat yogurt, or have a low-fat or skim milk shake.

20. Start small

You’re not going on a diet. Rather, you’re changing the way you eat for the rest of your life. So, there’s no need to cut out dietary fat – all at once. You might start by switching to milk instead of cream in your coffee, or low-fat mayonnaise on your sandwiches and so on.

In addition to this, check your height and weight. Or, use a chart to see if you are overweight for your height. Your body mass index [BMI] is the weight in kilogram divided by the height in meter-squared: remember, it should be below 25.

A study involving middle-aged children of people in their 90s have found that familial longevity was associated with lower levels of vitamin D and a lower frequency of allelic variation in the CYP2R1 gene, which was associated with higher levels of vitamin D. Previous studies have shown that low levels of vitamin D are associated with increased rates of death, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, allergies, mental illness and other afflictions. However, it is not known whether low levels are the cause of these diseases or if they are a consequence.

To determine whether there was an association between vitamin D levels and longevity, Dr. Diana van Heemst, Department of Gerontology and Geriatrics, Leiden University Medical Center, Leiden, the Netherlands, and her colleagues looked at data from 380 white families with at least 2 siblings over age 90 (89 years or older for men and 91 year or older for women) in the Leiden Longevity Study.

The study involved the siblings, their offspring and their offsprings' partners for a total of 1038 offspring and 461 controls. The children of the nonagenarians were included because it is difficult to include controls for the older age group. The partners were included because they were of a similar age and shared similar environmental factors that might influence vitamin D levels.

The Dutch researchers measured levels of 25(OH) vitamin D and categorized levels by month as they varied according to season. Tanning bed use, which can affect vitamin D levels, was categorized as never, 1 times per year and 6 times per year.

The researchers controlled for age, sex, BMI (body mass index), time of year, vitamin supplementation and kidney function, all factors that can influence vitamin D levels. They also looked at the influence of genetic variation in 3 genes associated with vitamin D levels.

"We found that the offspring of nonagenarians who had at least 1 nonagenarian sibling had lower levels of vitamin D than controls, independent of possible confounding factors and SNPs [single nucleotide polymorphisms] associated with vitamin D levels," said the researchers.

"We also found that the offspring had a lower frequency of common genetic variants in the CYP2R1 gene; a common genetic variant of this gene predisposes people to high vitamin D levels."

"These findings support an association between low vitamin D levels and familial longevity," they noted.

They postulate that offspring of nonagenarians might have more of a protein that is hypothesized to be an "aging suppressor" protein. More research is needed to understand the link between lower vitamin D levels, genetic variants and familial longevity.

This October 11, 2012 file photo provided by the Brigham and Women's Hospital shows a monthly calendar vitamin pack used in a long-term study on multivitamins. Multivitamins might help lower the risk for cancer in healthy older men but do not affect their chances of developing heart disease, new research suggests.

Intake of daily multivitamin supplements does not lower the risk of cardiovascular disease in men, a new study has found.

Researchers said that individuals who believe they are deriving benefits from supplements may be less likely to engage in other preventive health behaviours.

“Although multivitamins are used to prevent vitamin and mineral deficiency, there is a perception that multivitamins may prevent cardiovascular disease (CVD). Observational studies have shown inconsistent associations between regular multivitamin use and CVD, with no long-term clinical trials of multivitamin use,” researchers said.

Researchers led by Howard D Sesso of Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston, analysed data regarding multivitamin use and major cardiovascular events from the Physicians’ Health Study (PHS) II, a large-scale trial testing the effects of long-term use of a common multivitamin on the risk of major cardiovascular events and cancer.

In an analysis of the rate of events for men in each group, the researchers found that there was no significant effect of a daily multivitamin on major cardiovascular events, or total MI or total stroke.

Taking a daily multivitamin was not significantly associated with a reduction in CVD mortality. There were fewer total deaths among multivitamin users, but this difference was not statistically significant.

Researchers also found no significant effect of a daily multivitamin on rates of congestive heart failure, angina, and coronary revascularisation. Also, the effect of a daily multivitamin on total MI, total stroke, and other cardiovascular end points did not differ between men with and without CVD at the beginning of the study.

“These data do not support multivitamin use to prevent CVD, demonstrating the importance of long-term clinical trials of commonly used nutritional supplements,” researchers said.

“Whether to take a daily multivitamin requires consideration of an individual’s nutritional status, because the aim of supplementation is to prevent vitamin and mineral deficiency, plus consideration of other potential effects, including a modest reduction in cancer and other important outcomes in PHS II that will be reported separately,” they said in a statement.

Strenous exercises includes 30 minutes of running or cycling daily, enough to work up a sweat, the European Heart Journal reports. File Photo: N. Sridharan

Regular and vigorous exercise can activate dormant stem cells in the heart, which heal the damage caused by a heart attack, says a new study.

The study by Liverpool John Moores University is the first to suggest that a simple exercise programme has an effect similar to that of the stem cells, when they are cajoled into producing new tissues through special shots.

Strenous exercises includes 30 minutes of running or cycling daily, enough to work up a sweat, the European Heart Journal reports.

A study on healthy rats showed that an equivalent amount of exercise resulted in producing more than 60 percent of heart stem cells, usually dormant in adults, becoming active, the Telegraph reports.

After two weeks of exercise the mice had a seven percent increase in the number of cardiomyocites, the “beating” cells in heart tissue.

The John Moores team said they would now study the effects on mice which had suffered heart attacks to determine whether it could have an even greater benefit.

Georgina Ellison, from the John Moores University, who led the study, said, “The exercise is increasing the growth factors which are activating the stem cells to go on and repair the heart, and this is the first time that this potential has been shown.

“We hope it might be even more effective in damaged hearts because you have got more reason to replace the large amount of cells that are lost,” Ellison added.

Although some patients with severe heart damage may not be capable of intensive exercise, Ellison said a significant number would easily be able to jog or cycle for 30 minutes a day without risking their health.

Jeremy Pearson, professor and associate medical director of the British Heart Foundation, which funded the research, said, “However, much more research is now needed to find out whether what’s been seen in this study can be translated into treatments for human patients.”

Statins and drugs together pose health risk.Millions of people who take statins to ward off heart attacks and strokes, must cut their dose over fears that they are at risk of serious side-effects. Statins have been hailed as a wonder-drug  which can slash cholesterol and protect against a host of chronic illnesses. But the medicines regulator is concerned that some could suffer agonizing muscle problems, lung disorders and kidney damage, the Daily Express reported. It warned that those taking simvastatin in combination with drugs which slash high blood pressure are at risk of the side-effects.

Lovastatin
STATIN

Some people should take a lower dose or be moved on to another statins  the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency said. Experts want those aged over 50 to be routinely prescribed with them to ward off a host of chronic and potentially fatal illnesses from heart problems to cancer and dementia, even if they are deemed at low risk.

They say giving an extra five million people statins would cut heart attacks and strokes by 10,000 a year and save at least 2,000 lives.
However, the side-effects are well known with some taking the drug suffering mild side-effects such as insomnia and stomach upsets to a rare but serious lung disorder.

Most experts still agree that the benefits of taking them far outweigh any risks. But now studies have shown that patients taking simvastatin, particularly at a 40mg dose which is the most commonly prescribed daily amount, suffered more problems if they were also taking the drugs amlodipine and diltiazem.

These are used to treat high blood pressure and chest pain associated with heart disease and they are often prescribed with simvastatin. The side-effects are those usually associated with statins, including muscle problems such as pain, tenderness, weakness and cramps and more rarely muscle breakdown leading to kidney damage.

These were found to occur more frequently when patients were on both drugs at the same time. The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has produced a patient leaflet with the dose recommendation changes. But patients already taking the drug combination are being advised not to stop their medication but talk to their doctor instead.

The advice suggests that doctors can lower the simvastatin dose because the side-effects are less common on a 20mg dose, or switch them to another statin entirely."We have recently published information on dosing recommendations for simvastatin which were updated due to a small risk of an increase in side-effects when it is used at higher doses in conjunction with amlodipine or diltiazem," an MHRA spokesman said.

"We have advised that patients continue their treatment and discuss this with their doctor at their next routine appointment," he said.
Modern Medicine are creating a high risk scenario as many medicine are lately recognized to be harmful.Hope that all Medicines are purely to cure the patients and not affect them.

Health and fitness
Water intake

Water is life and no life without water. Here some great benefits of drinking enough water are prominent to establish health and 24 hour fitness is concerned.  Water having zero calories is the best thing in dieting to full the stomach with, in order to overcome overeating habit. Water keeps the joints flexible and helps the intestines to work properly against constipation and hypertension. Near about 8 glasses water daily have surprisingly effects on body to purge impurities and giving the skin fresh, natural and beauty look. It is also helpful to decrease acne pimples and dryness of the skin to promote face beauty.

Avoid Sleep deprivation

Natural sleep is blessing of God for physical fitness and mental health. In early ages when people were not so much civilized and were not used to late night waking they had good sleep and health. you will find some good reasons to cut back on empty foods, along with some alternative options that are healthy and packed with nutrients. Remember that foods are endless, so if one replacement doesn't suit you, don't get discouraged. Once you make one good choice about your diet, you'll make another, and another, and another. It's that easy!

Bad Carbohydrates: carbohydrates that are bad are comprised of refined, simple sugars. These include wheat products, anything with sugar, and processed flours. Examples of bad carbohydrates include pastries, cookies, sweets, and some cereals (such as cornflakes or rice crispies). Because most of these flours and sugars are refined, they are stripped of most nutrients. As a result, food manufacturers incorporate supplemental vitamins and minerals that are not readily absorbed as naturally occurring nutrients are in the body.

Good Carbohydrates: carbohydrates are present almost everywhere. Fortunately, with the enormous variety of carbohydrates that exist, we can still make healthy choices while satisfying our cravings. To curb your carbohydrate cravings, go for fruits and vegetables, whole wheat or grain breads, and cereals and brown rice.

Bad Vegetables: veggies are not only delicious; they are easy on the digestive system and packed with tissue enhancing nutrients. Nevertheless, many people forget that in the process of cooking our vegetables, vitamins and minerals and weakened. If vegetables are boiled for a long period of time, all nutrients can be lost in the boiling liquid, making vegetables just as empty as fast foods.

Good Vegetables: To make the most of your vegetable intake, try to consume as many veggies as possible in their raw state. Instead of making white grain pasta with broccoli, try a cold pasta salad with whole-wheat noodles, asparagus, broccoli, tomatoes, and quinoa for a fully balanced meal. Dress with a natural, pure oil such as olive oil and incorporate some acid (lemon, lime juice, or vinegar) to ease digestion and supply vitamin C.

Go Natural: Avoid processed foods at all costs. Canned, packaged, dried, frozen…all these foods have been cooked for hours to maximize flavors at the lowest possible cost. That means that they are packed with empty calories, little nutrients, and zero enzymes to metabolize, absorb, and assimilate any vitamins or minerals they could contain. Processed foods are also packed with preservatives, dyes, sodium, and flavor enhancers.

All these foreign substances put extra strain on your body, providing it with no nourishment and taking away from its healing time and energy. If you must select processed foods, select those that have short lists of ingredients and are labeled as "all natural." These are the least likely to cause damage to your body.

Avoid Inflammatory Foods: There are certain foods that will only worsen your acne and overall health. Drinks like coffee or anything containing caffeine, alcohol, cream, milk, eggs, and other dairy products are strenuous on the body and require extra effort to metabolize. Fried foods, spicy foods, animal fats, hydrogenated oils, wheat, and soft drinks are also best to stay away from.

Maintain a Consistent Skin Care Regimen: We've all gone through the nightmare of searching for the right product for our skin type. But in the hype of discovering the miracle cream, we forget to give our skin time to adjust to the effects of the new product. By all means, try everything you must before settling for a skin care regimen. Just allow the testing to be done over an extended period of time to truly evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment.

Your skin is very sensitive, especially if you are suffering from acne. Remember to be consistent with your routine, and as gentle as you can on your skin.

Junk food is a bane or boon is quite a question after the new revelation of the danger that they poses to lives of humans.Eating even a single junk food meal can be enough to raise the risk of suffering a heart attack, cardiovascular disease or stroke in later life, new study led by an Indian-origin researcher has warned.
Experts at the EPIC Centre of Canada Montreal Heart Institute, affiliated to theUniversity of Montreal, say the key to staving off heart disease and other illnesses caused by clogged arteries is to switch to a Mediterranean-style diet, based on healthy foods like oily fish, fresh vegetables and olive oil, the Daily Express reported.

Director of research at EPIC and associate professor at the university Faculty of Medicine compared the effects of junk food and a typical Mediterranean meal on the ability of arteries to dilate after a temporary five-minute blockage.
The research looked at 28 nonsmoking men, who ate a Mediterranean-type meal first and then a junk food-type meal one week later.
After the Mediterrean-style meal the men’s arteries were found to dilate normally and maintain good blood flow.
But after eating the junk food the arteries of the study participants dilated 24 per cent less than they did when in a fasting state.
The findings were presented at the Canadian Cardiovascular Congress.

We have such a lot of mannerisms and habits. we often think that doing them makes us feel relaxed. However, what we have a tendency to don’t recognize is that these habits may cause internal destruction like brain damage.

1.Skipping Breakfast or No Breakfast at all.

People who don't take breakfast usually got a lower blood sugar level. That’s bad. It ends up in an insufficient of nutrients to the brain causing brain degeneration.

2.Over eating.

Over eating causes the hardening of the brain arteries that results in a decrease in mental power. That’s why you might notice that you simply can’t concentrate well on a puzzle if you have eaten over limit.

3.Smoking

It does not only harm the lungs however also the brain. The nicotine in cigarettes also contain some substances that causes multiple brain shrinkage. If this may continue, you might even get an Alzheimer’s disease.

4.High sugar consumption

Too much of everything is unhealthy. Having a high sugar count interrupts the absorption of proteins and nutrients inflicting malnutrition. this could also interfere in the brain development. Thus, it's not advisable, particularly for children to indulge in sweets.

Questioning the physical fitness of techies

Lifestyles of IT professionals generally tend to be hectic, challenging, full of stress, at times fun... and almost always sedentary. The issue of sedentary lifestyles and the question of physical fitness among techies were highlighted with a flash mob by a 100-strong group of young employees of TCS. They danced up a storm with popular numbers in a 10-minute routine that culminated with them unfurling banners and marching with placards that urged one and all to live a healthy life. Perhaps the most poignant part of the show was the finale where two of the dancers mimed popular sport such as basketball, badminton, cricket, tennis, and football in a bid to drive home the importance of physical fitness.

Says Naveen Kumar, one of the dancers: “Physical fitness is a pertinent issue among techies because most of us spend our time sitting in a chair, hunched in front of our computers. Often we ignore our health and forget about the need for physical exercise.” He adds that he makes a “conscious effort” to work out on a routine basis. “We wanted to show that it is fairly easy to involve yourself in some kind of physical activity. All it takes to lead a healthy lifestyle is a bit of effort,” add Gowreesha Nookala and Aniruddh Naraparaju, two of the lead dancers in the show. All three of them say they keep fit by playing badminton (at Technopark Club) on a regular basis.

Sharing the opinion of these sprightly youngsters is 35-year-old techie Anna Jose, who has been in the IT field for around 13 years now. She is one of the few fitness junkies at Technopark. “I play badminton regularly, I do Pilates, I work out at the Technopark gym, I swim… I do some kind of physical activity for an hour or more at least four times a week. I started out with the intention of getting back into shape after the birth of my second child. Now it has become a routine, something that I enjoy,” says Anna.

However, when it comes to physical fitness, techies who think on the same lines as these techies, are by the looks of it, very few. For example, according to Sasidharan Nair, the administrator of the Technopark Club, “only 200, including some 50 women out of the 40,000 plus people who work on campus use the multi-purpose gym at the club on a regular basis”. Even lesser numbers, he says, use the club’s other facilities such as its swimming pool or the badminton court. “Most of the techies I’ve talked to about the issue say that they don’t exercise simply because they can’t find the time what with their hectic work schedules. Then again, I’ve observed that if exercise or some kind of physical activity has always been a part of a person’s lifestyle choice, then they will fit it into their routine whatever the hurdle. Most of the people who work on campus are between the ages of 23 and 35, and do not seem too concerned with health issues, probably because they are at an age where they do not face too many such issues,” says Sasidharan.

It’s a fact that techies do face certain physical health issues because of their sedentary jobs. Divas Sadasivan, who works at corporate communications at IBS, is not too much into physical fitness activities. “I work out or take part in outdoor activities only once in a while simply because of the paucity of time. Speaking from practical experience, the main physical health problems that we techies face are issues related to our eyes, neck and spine. Sadly, as it often happens, it often takes some dilapidating pain for us to realise its extent. Even if exercise is not part of my daily routine, I take the effort to maintain my health. For instance, every couple of hours or so I make it a point to get up from my desk and walk around and/or stretch my arms and legs. I do that three or four times a day. I also make it a point to eat healthy and balance my meals. It’s these little things that count.”

Of course, most companies across Technopark have health, wellness and physical fitness initiatives in place, which, are to a point, successful. However, as always, it’s the individual effort that triumphs.
